Mind's Eye
Have you seen things that are never there? Well, I sure have. I am a person that loves to walk around in nature and take photographs of those landscapes. My imagination is so vivid that I see characters running around the landscape. I only recently noticed that this happens Subconsciously. I wanted to give my mind’s eye a voice by creating this work.
I wanted to use the landscapes that I visit often. Recording what I imagine when walking around. All the characters I see are ones that I have created in the past. To give these characters life, I took my photographs into my computer and drew digitally on top. I paid attention to the light in the photographs to make sure that my characters live in that landscape, become one with it. My artwork shows how my mind’s eye sees the world with cartoon characters running around.
Signaling Water: Multi-Species Migration and Displacement, 2019
In progress...
The Nautical Flag International Collaboration is an assignment for students to participate in the traveling collaborative exhibition “Signaling Water: Multi-Species Migration and Displacement,” which will be exhibited in Paris, Osaka, Kansas City, and San Jose. The project will ask students to reflect on their relationship to water, using nautical flags and photographic image-making. Each student will create an image on one side of the flag, that relates to and reflects on their relationship with water, migration, and displacement.
Letter (U) + (L)
Phrases: (U) “You are running into danger.” + “The ship is quarantined.” / (L) “You should stop your vessel instantly.”
The phrases associated with the letter U, you are in danger and the letter L, you should stop your vessel instantly, may be interpreted as slow down and enjoy the beauty of the place that may not last forever. As a person that loves nature, I am among the few that want to save Almaden Lake from being filled in. Stop, look and appreciate.
